Calvados Bloodstock’s owner Fionnuala Timoney is a graduate of University College Cork, holding a Bachelor of Arts (Honours Degree) in English and Politics.

On completion of her degree, she spent two years with Coolmore Stud, both in Ireland and Australia, prior to completing the Irish National Stud’s Thoroughbred Breeding and Stud Management Course where she received a Class Prize for her Pedigree Research Project.

Fionnuala completed a six month work contract in Trelawney Stud, New Zealand in February 2010, working in Foaling and also Yearling Preparation for the 2010 Karaka Premier and Select Yearling Sales.

On returning from New Zealand, Fionnuala took up the position of Yearling Manager at Taroka Stud in Ireland where she was responsible for preparing yearlings for the Doncaster, Goffs, Deauville, Tattersalls and Newmarket yearling sales.

In 2010 Fionnuala set up a Bloodstock Blog and has written articles on a freelance basis for a number of stud farms and horse trainers. She has also written a number of articles on the breeding and racing industries for Stable Smart (now MiStable).

In February 2011, after gaining Australian residency, Fionnuala returned to Coolmore Australia, where she was employed as Supervisor of the Resident Foaling Unit. She also took part in the preparation of Coolmore’s yearlings, weanlings and broodmares for all the major Australian sales.

In October 2013 Fionnuala took up employment at Kitchwin Hills where she was employed in the role of Marketing and Nominations.

From June 2015 to March 2017 Fionnuala was the Bloodstock Manager and Stud Manager at the Brett Cavanough-owned Jindera Park, before pursuing a career in Bloodstock Marketing and Pedigree Consultancy.

In 2018 Fionnuala joined Aquis Farm as a Social Media and Communications Executive and was promoted to the role of Marketing Manager in August of that year before returning to Coolmore Australia, where she is currently employed in the role of Bloodstock and Client Communications Manager.

Fionnuala purchased her first Thoroughbred broodmare in 2009, and has been gradually building her broodmare and stallion portfolio ever since.

In 2022 Fionnuala joined Suman Hedge, Byron Rogers, and Kristen Buchanan as a guest host on Gus Roland’s weekly horseracing podcast, A Horse Walks Into A Bar.
